Iraq War Syllogism - 28 Poem by Raj Dronamraju

Iraq War Syllogism - 28

28

Smear the hero
Praise the coward
Drag down the hero to our level
The coward's trick - he did not serve during Vietnam

The coward's life is not your life
His affluence is not your paycheck to paycheck existence
Yet his deliberately rural speech pattern fools you into thinking he is the common man

The hero is also of wealth but he chose to go and fight in a war he could have avoided
That is character explained through biography
That is character when contrasted with the coward

How swiftly the truth gets submerged under a boatful of lies
A war fought by armchair cowards who didn't serve when asked
But are gung ho for those they view as their social inferiors to strap on a gun

2004 - America doubles down on failure
The coward chortles like the son of a rich man
The laughter of a responsibility free life
