It Is So Hard For Them Poem by Francis Duggan

It Is So Hard For Them

Some former presidents and prime ministers on political and current affairs love to have their say
It is so hard for them to give their power away
To the leaders of the current government they offer unsolicited advice
Free media publicity for this is their price
Humility it never has been their thing
Their own praises they only do love to sing
They like to keep themselves in the public eye
Their sort are never publicity shy
But when they were the political leaders they failed to impress
And their loss of power was their price for their lack of success
But this did not humble them in any way
On how the Country should be governed they make public their say
To live gracefully in retirement would never be their choice
They surely do love the sound of their own voice.
