It's not the same
I know
The way you regard me
Is different than
My bright view of thee

In you I feel love and hope
Affection
Connection
To the Nth degree

It's not the same
There's disparity
In the way I view thee
And your view of me

In you I feel attraction
So drawn to the interaction
So longing in my anticipation
You cause in me a stir and sensation

But to you
I'm just a distant dreamer
Someone you can take or leave
Or ignore

And this heart breaks
My chest heaves and quakes
With the private lonliness of knowing
That I'll never be anything more
