It Was Worth It Poem by Weldon Davis

It Was Worth It

Rating: 4.8

All the pain
All the struggle
All the late nights
I stayed awake

All the lessons
Somewhat learned
Burned into
My brain like a hot poker

All the loneliness
All the shame
All the slander
To my name

Has been worth it! !
If this is what it took
To wake up
And look at myself

To see that I only
Have one shot at life
That the most important things
Are passing me by...

The things I love most

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This poem is dedicated to Delaney Caroline Davis...Sometimes in life we may think we can handle situations, when we really can not, and only through hardship do we come to realize the people that are most important in our lives...This poem is about the hardships I faced, and the people and things I came to appreciate the most
