In addiction
I lost a lot of old friends to recovery
I was stuck on the same
Principles
...
They send our boys
To die like dogs
In the Arabian swelter
Picking out roadside bombs
...
Oldies station plays a
Love song although I wasn't there when
Disco died
...
There is a sadness in my eyes
I need not explain
A lonesome whistle blows in the background
A midnight train
...
Like weasels they snicker
In dark corners
They laugh at the idealists
The poets
...
This philosophical love leads to profound realism
Intensified by nights spent in this prison
Every instant I'm away from you
My deepest love is in limbo
...
I have an envy of Adam
I'd give my rib for an Eve
In the garden of Eden
With a god to believe
...
You brought me into this world
Kept me safe from harm
I've never known such comfort
As when I was in your arms
...
For weeks felt weak
For months felt blue
Through it all doll
I thought of you
...
Red bull and pepperoni pizza
A smile
And I'm back
To thinking of you again
...
Your beauty goes without saying
Intoxicated by your laugh
I can't help but smile
Your lips snarl and pout
...
One day at a time
I'll find the new me
Discover talents I never
Knew I had
...
I saw you
By the wayside today
Wearing a sweatshirt
And daisy dukes
...
A friend of mine said today
That while in jail
All he needed was to
Be with his girlfriend
...
The food sucks
Have ya begging for
Ramen noodles on canteen day
In the cage

The Jester
I make you smile
The reasons why
Uncertain
Maybe it's the way I talk
-Or-
The way I muse
It's evident
I'm the recipient
Of constant abuse
How else could I cover this pain?
With quick quips and jokes
Relating to the things
Everybody thinks
-Yet-
Does not say
I make you smile
Go ahead and grin
To relate to my fellow man
Is my greatest strength
Within
Maybe one day you'll
Feel my pain
Through these tears
This clown hides
