January Rains Poem by Phil J Hambling

January Rains

Rating: 4.6

Nobody can notice your tears
In the bite of the January rains
They merge in salty stings
And into one long stream of memories
Umbrella fights your hand
Unruly and restless in the teasing winds
And blown inside out like your heart
The struggle commemorates the days you shared on this path of laughter and sun
And the suck and cast of the sea
Is now your only companion
As you battle on and on
Back home again
To the warmth of tea
And quiet reminiscence

COMMENTS OF THE POEM

2. Wondered how " They merge in salty stings And into one long stream of memories " My heart has gone with your muse, just jumped out of my rib-cage. Loved it, dear poet.5*s

As promised, here is my comment: fascinating poem about the harshness of the January rains. Most deserving as TMPOTD (The Member Poem Of The Day) CONGRATS andTop Marks!

I'm glad you received Poem of the Day and that I read your poem again. This time the first three lines drew me in and I've read them repeatedly with awe toward their significance.
