Joey Poem by Ima Ryma

Joey

Time for this joey to peek out,
And see what there is worth to see.
Mama's been teaching me about
Kangaroo life ahead for me.
Something told me when I was born
To crawl a ways on Mama's fur
Into the pouch, safe haven worn,
And close to the milk spouts for sure.
Australia's land of kangaroos,
And when I'm out more on my own,
Hopping will be the way I'll cruise.
I'll stay pouched in until more grown.

Till then I will play peek-a-boo,
And maybe I will peek at you.
