Life

If only
We could
Be together.

If only
We could
Be one.

They are
Interfering,

And beneath
This composure
I know it’s over.

Because
I’ve given you
My heart,
I know there
Won’t be
Another to share
What we had.

I’m dying inside
That you can’t be mine.

But,
They are
Interfering,

And I’m quietly
Breaking

For,
Each step
You take
In the other direction
Is tearing
The tender heart
You hold
In your hand.
