The familiar sound
screeching tyres, a scream
then a skid,
skin sliding across asphalt.
I felt her pain, I'd been there once before
the morning traffic does not care, honk honk
"what the f*^# are you doing! "
the jug hasn't boiled yet today

Nobody visits me when it rains
but the jug boils more.
Coffee seems better when its wet outside
hot showers seem hotter, I feel safe inside
my pills work harder when the sun is shy
grey wet and miserable
f^$%(ng depressing sky

The jug doesn't boil on payday
I spend five dollars on a soy latte instead
"two sugars please" but really I want three
I feel that's too much to ask for, but so is five dollars
I pay it anyway for the convenience my excuse
Company in cat form, my evening drips away
Thursdays are the best days, unless I've not been paid

The jug boiled at granddads today.
I was there to paint the fence
huckleberry Finn would be jealous
He paid me twenty bucks
with that money I fed my cat, brought some bread and leant the rest
Today was my day off and I spent it helping the elderly
I hope when I am old I will come over and help me.

Instead of the markets on a Saturday morn, I skate across town to a place called natureland
you see a long time ago I got in big trouble
"one hundred hours community work" the judge said
With a spring in my step and a smile on my face I say to myself "you're lucky for this,
I'm glad I got caught" see I applied for this job a few years ago
I hope judge never finds out that I enjoy it so much
they even have a jug and a cup with my name on.

One of those days where things don't work out
mistaking cat food for tuna, I only ate half.
I didn't feel well for the rest of the day
as I laughed at the toilet I thought to myself
why is cat food and tuna so similarly packaged?
Now it is evening and the jug has been boiled
I look at today's pants, so wonderfully spoiled
