Journey Poem by Hirushi Jayasekera

Journey

Rating: 4.4

Life is a journey and the path unwinds
Before you a single road that fades out
Into…a distance. A glow shimmering light
Spills onto the path, now a footpath, now
a road, now a highway..your highway yours

The humps do not cease, the cars do not slow
A journey you make alone…yet roads stretch
To lands unknown and sunglasses tint scene

Waving flag, cheers of family, friends..no race
Thoughts whizz, brake, they are with me, and I them
no one gets left behind or forgotten
Sun sings, leaves rustle, lakes swim past our car
Now yellow, now orange, now white then green

Faint glimmer, shades off, the true world dazzles
What more to want, car slows…you’ve arrived here
There, everywhere a rainbow, shades of life
You’ve reached it, you’ve done it, you know it..life

Thank you soo much! I really appreciate your comments. Glad you enjoyed it! I did read your poem called 'A journey', its really good (also left some comments behind) . I don't know why the elipses in this poem appear as weird symbols. Do you know why that happens? In case you didn't notice, this particular poem is in iambic pentameter as well...its the only one for the moment. Thanks again! !
