Jurassic Clause Poem by Etienne Charilaou

Jurassic Clause

Santa Clause scratched his head,
and thought, ‘Through a time-portal
we must have sped
because when I look around
I see that dinosaurs abound.'

Rudolph's nose was a lighter red
and showed he suffered a little dread.
‘Let me steer to a safe place
and think what to do before
I bump into the head of a giant dinosaur.'

So, Santa steered the sled to a nice ledge,
making soothing sounds for his reindeer.
‘I've got presents to deliver to all the children dear;
I can't afford to be over here.'

Circling out of the sun some leather-winged
Pterodactyl-types descended
towards their favorite perch.

The reindeer were spooked at the
swooping shadows and took off right there,
throwing Santa back into his comfy chair.

The long-beaked flying reptiles could only stare;
they didn't know what to make of this flying affair.

‘I think I know what we must do, ' said Santa.
‘Where we came in we may find the portal
still open, and through it we'll pass,
hopefully near Hoboken.

So, quickly they flew,
dodging a Brachi or two, and
soon they were hovering in the air
looking here and there.

‘See that shimmery thing,
like a Mistletoe ring.'

Through it they went
having enough time spent
in the Jurassic period
which was a little weird.

Sadly, Santa and the deer
emerged in the Cretaceous;
where a T-Rex voracious
ate them up, I fear.
