Just A Friend Poem by Athena Hood

Just A Friend

Rating: 4.3

I tell myself, 'you are stronger than this'
But I know in my heart that I miss
Everything that was, has been, and had been
Fine, you own me, you win

I don't own you, I don't even stand a chance
You have already given me our last dance
The song that was playing in my head
It made me think of the color red
But then I found out that your love is untrue
Everything faded into dark blue

I wish that you are thinking of me as much as I am thinking of you
I wish I had paid attention to the clues
Clues that appeared my way but were ignored
Because you kept showing me that you want more

But in the end,
All that really matters is that I am just a friend
A friend whose broken heart pleads to be healed
But no longer wants to feel

Hi Athena, you are right about the clues part. Life does leave clues on our way, but we ignore and end up paying for it. Nice poem, do keep writing.

Hi... nice way to start off...pls consider it as my suggestion as I often don't.. the 11th line is too big and the 15th line is too short. if the second stanza is 6lines make the 4th stanza 6lines. But...you have the feel of dejected love or mistrust, the pain just flows poetically...keep the pain. because joy just flirts while sorrow inspires....Regards Rao

Your first poem in PH is beautifully composed that expresses your deepest feelings about to become just a friend.
