Just Before The Dawn Poem by Asma Khan

Just Before The Dawn

I let my hands open in the rain
to wash your name absolutely

I hid what I felt inside me
to watch you going calmly

I shielded my wishes with an empty hour glass
to hear the whispering of the emptiness

I let you treat me ill
to see the kindness inside you

I reposed the roaring hopes
to hear your silence talking to me

I trashed all your memories
to remember you again and again

I abandoned all fears behind
to meet the end of our story

I counted all steps that took me to you
to come back on the same steps

I justified all reasons for you
to erase my existence from your life

I sprinkled the morning breeze in your way
to see you coming just before the dawn
