Just One Day Poem by Edwina Reizer

Just One Day

If we had but just one day
on which to be together,
how would we spend our time my love?
That would depend on whether
we were in the flame of passion
or quieted with our love.
Would we count the minutes one by one?
and slowly rise above
all our earthly escapades
that brought to us such joy
when I was just a girl
and you were just a boy?

No, I think we would not sit
and contemplate the past.
We would think of future times
and pray for them to last.
For one last day is a celebration
of all we ever were.
We'd both give thanks to all there was
that kept our hearts astir.
