Justify Poem by J.B. LeBuert

Justify

How do we justify the greed when there is so much need?
How do we justify the wealth when it’s obtained by stealth?

Self-service is our God and to hell with the rest.
Coming out on top, is not that’s what’s best?

Believing our right is to judge those in need,
Who should starve and who should we feed?

Who believes that all men are created equal?
This is our life to which there is no sequel.

Justify your need to feel above others.
Justify your choice to your steal from your brothers.

The struggle continues, to rise above this mentality.
When will true equality come to reality?

Let’s look at ourselves in the light of day.
Let’s create a nation in which all children may play.

The time has come to justify this society’s right
To let others starve and live in plight.

Our hearts’ have become hardened to others life of pain.
Their struggles are none of our business;
Should their cries be in vain?
