K.E.M.B.A. Poem by Jeffery Joseph

K.E.M.B.A.

Ever since I first laid my eyes on you...
I knew you were different, something special...
We first seen each other in the conference room within the walls of work...
The words I wanted to say just wouldn't come out so I had to do something to get you to speak first...
So I did what I did best, and that was doodle on a sheet of looseleaf...
You blessed me with a compliment, but you kept it brief...
So I thoughts things might've just stayed on a professional level...
But then we soon got close and began to let our words wrestle...
The reason being is because our very first conversation was about why did I like the kind of music that I was listening to that day...
I was a little speechless because I put myself in your shoes looking at me, and then I began to see, why I had nothing to say...
It had seemed if I like things derogatory...
But then I vocalized there wasn't a thing like that about me...
But enough about me, let's go back to you...
A couple more things I'd like to spew..
Week in and week out, you'd show your concern for me...
I would put an act on in front of others, but you see what's wrong right in me...
Kemba, I'm more than grateful to have you as a friend...
Within a short amount of time, came close to me as if we were kin...
I love your gifted presence...
And look for you in day-to-day attendance...
Because honestly what attracted me was that fact that you're Kinetic - Exuberant - Magnificent - a Blessing - and Amazing

If you payed close attention, you'd notice I did the name thing...
And now here we are, with these poetical gifts exchanging...

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I met a beautiful, warm-hearted woman named Kemba.
We began a weird conversation at work about the kind of music I was listening to.
She and I exchanged viewpoints and became good friends soon after.
