! ! ! KAMULATAN

Unang palo
dumapo sa aking puwitan
tanda ng pagkamulat sa sanlibutan
palahaw ko ang umalingawngaw
pagmamahal ni ama't ina ang tumanglaw.

Unang hakbang,
patungo sa nakaabang na bisig
ni mamang at papang
madapa man, magasgasan
naandiyan sila para ako ay agapan,
malunasan.

Unang kataga,
nulas sa bibig ng kamusmusan
sila ang pumuno at may kinalaman
bawat halakhak, bawat palahaw
tinuruan sa bawat indak ng sayaw.

Unang guhit,
kamay ay hinawakan, iniukit
papel na blangko, malinis,
sinulatan ng kung ano'ng guhit
hanggang matutong magsulat, o kay bilis!

Unang pasukan,
mga GURO aking hinangaan
tila mga henyo, puno ng karunungan
ako ay kanilang tinuruan
sa aking kamangmangan!

Malimot man ng panahon
GURO ng Karunungan ay di pababaon
pamanang KAMULATAN sa akin ako ay lilingon
pasasalamat sa ibinigay na panahon!

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Malimot man ng panahon ang GURO ng Karunungan
ngunit hindi ang kanyang pamanang KAMULATAN.

Hindi nga ba't LAHAT tayo ay GURO NG ATING PAGKATAO?

There! little girl; don't cry!
They have broken your doll, I know;
And your tea-set blue,
And your play-house, too,
Are things of the long ago;
