Kapeng Barako (2) Poem by Wilson Khor W.H.

Kapeng Barako (2)

I wonder what
these jeepney and taxi drivers,
those with heavy gunnies,
and shirtless construction workers
think

As they drink cups of coffee
dark as sunburnt skin
without sugar
without milk
alone and without a word
before their day began.
