Keep Me Loved Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Keep Me Loved

Keep me loved.
Not one berated to hate.
I'm on a journey like you,
One I've chosen to pursue.
Just love me,
Like I want to do you.
But if you show me disrespect,
What do you expect...
From that shown for me to do?

We get what we give back.
Don't await for my loving hugs,
When you treat me...
Like a street taught thug.

We get what we give back,
And that's a fact.
If I'm attacked for no reason,
Why would you think...
My hopes and dreams wish for that?

Keep me loved.
Not one berated to hate.
I'm on a journey like you,
One I've chosen to pursue.
Just love me,
Like I want to do you.
But if you show me disrespect,
What do you expect...
From that shown for me to do?
Cook you breakfast?
