Key Poem by Vera Sidhwa

Key

I dropped the key a long time ago.
Where I dropped it, I do not know.
The key it seems may have dropped itself.
It was that key, the key to myself.

Without it I could not myself understand.
Where I stood or where I stand.
The turning movement is what I couldn't do.
The clicking open of my own heart wouldn't happen.

I looked all over all kinds of terrain,
I looked night and day,
I sought that key in bright sun and stormy rain.
I thought I found that key in sound.

It didn't matter where it was found.
My heart beat rapidly then slow,
For that key would make love grow.
And so I finally found it lying.

In my heart that now was flying.
