Kiki, My Best Friend Poem by Randy McClave

Kiki, My Best Friend

Kiki was my very best friend
So, truthful until the very end,
Whenever I looked she was always there
Always glancing back at me with her happy stare.
She never asked me for a dollar
Towards material belongings she would never holler,
Everything that I had I would keep
While I was angry, she would peacefully sleep.
Whenever I felt lonely she I would always hold
She even kept me warm in the cold,
And that saddened day when my mother had died
Kiki was there for me, as I cried.
When she ever came in from a heavy rain
Never once did she ever wimper or complain,
To me she'd run happily without a scowl
Joyfully I'd dry her off with a towel.
I remember the very last time that I held her
I stroked her as my love I did transfer,
While this breakfast time many people were eating;
I sadly listened to Kiki's heart, until it stopped beating.
