Kim-Mai Rose Garden On July Seventh Poem by NHIEN NGUYEN MD

This morning, I water rose garden.
It's hot season so soil dries up quickly.
Roses began to bloom by the end of May.
Then in June, thousands of roses show their beauties.
Now, the month of July, it's hot and dry
So I have to water rose garden few times a week.
After watering, I remove old flowers
I prune branches so future growths spread outward.
This week, there are few roses in the garden
But within few weeks, second crop of roses will show their beauties.
Now I nurture many young branches and flower buds.
As I water rose garden, I water Kim-Mai's love.

Translation of a Vietnamese poem of NHIEN NGUYEN MD:

VƯỜN HỒNG KIM-MAI NGÀY SONG THẤT

Sáng nay tôi tưới vườn hồng
Mùa này trời nóng, đất vườn khô mau.
Hồng đầu nở cuối tháng Năm
Rồi qua tháng Sáu, ngàn hoa khoe mầu.
Bây giờ tháng Bảy, nắng hanh
Mỗi tuần, tôi tưới nước hai ba lần.
Tưới xong, tôi tỉa bông gìa
Lựa chiều tôi cắt cho cành vươn ra.
Tuần này, bông chỉ lưa thưa
Rồi vài tuần nữa, bông đua đợt nhì.
Đọt non, nụ nhỏ rất nhiều
Vườn hồng tôi tưới, tưới tình Kim Mai.
