Lake Biwa Poem by Ryszarda Pelc

Lake Biwa

I know.
Someday I will miss Lake Biwa.
I will be longing for Chikubushima.
From my memory I will draw
the shape of sails, colorful butterflies,
and the white fishermen’s vessels
under the blue, water alike, sky.
I know.
In my dreams
I will see mountains on the horizon
at dawn silvery, golden in the sunset.
Echo
will repeat the songs of birds flying above white castle.
Someday I will miss Lake Biwa.
I know.
