Land Of Snows Poem by VICTORIA HEIM

Land Of Snows

Rising out of the mists
Mount Kailas
a holy pilgrimage site
Its snows reflect
the setting sun
Isolation
has not kept the
Land of Snows
from invasion
and exploitation
With each rotation
of the prayer wheel
is the wish
to dwell with grace
between struggle and sorrow
joy and peace
In this
high heavenly realm,
Place of the Gods
Prayer flags flutter in the breeze
with all the intentions
sent heavenward
lessening the effects of
greed, hatred, ignorance and
betrayal
upon the heart
Known as Ocean of Wisdom,
The Dalai Lama has said,
'Oppression cannot last,
the dominant trait in human nature is
Compassion.'
