Last Sights Poem by Santosh Sharma

Last Sights

Rating: 5.0

I shall be terminating the voyage of my life
Lying on the aged bed counting the breaths
Recollecting the days we spent together
Rewinding the images beneath my eyes
Which you joined in the middle of my life

Wonderful was the journey we struggled together
Happiness and sorrows were the order of time
Pain and pleasure we shared together
Wishes and desires, now that game is over
Good bye and the departure are now on the threshold.

You shall be nearest to my sight
Witnessing the trembling hands and stammering voice
Staring eyes with one sight
I will look at you as young the day we unite.
With this wish to close my eyes for ever

You join me till the last rites
You be the last one to put soil on the grave
Could see me till my last.
That will be last of our sight.
Completing the journey of our union
Your soul will be left with a departed heart.

Numerous remembrances are there of our golden days
Which will be enough for the remaining of your life
I have already registered a site as per my will
Your grave will be besides of mine
Again wish to be your companion in next of our life.

It is a very somber topic. But contrary to our common desires and hopes, the Bible says marriage is only for this earthly existence..... Mt 22: 23-32 'The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked Him, saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother: Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh. And last of all the woman died also. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.' Also, He says.... Rom 7: 1-3 'Know ye not, brethren, (for I speak to them that know the law,) how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband. So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that law; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.'
