Lay Hand Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Lay Hand

Rating: 5.0

You can not properly offer
With stable mind for prayer
Hunger may trouble and divert
Your attention and subvert

Hunger makes you blind
You will always act unkind
No one may look to you as gentleman
Being poor means you are always inhuman

Parents are compelled to sell
Their children for keeping well
They are seized with poverty
Real curse and disgrace from almighty

Feel pathetic when faced with hunger
It may be coupled with anger
You may find no respite
Everywhere you have to fight

The situation is not favorable
Only insults and troubles
People may throw bad words
You will feel like insect in the world

The hunger forces you to eat
Raw meat to feel fit
It may force you sometimes to snatch
On anything you can lay hand or catch
