Leaving Behind Me Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Leaving Behind Me

Leaving behind me
Wednesday,7th April 2021

With half-opened eyes
I tried to see you
your gentle steps feared me
as if you were trying to flee

I felt cold in the spine
and tried to define
your role in my life
it stood as stuffed with torn strife

how best I served
and observed
that you had a different feeling
and tried all the best to leave at willingness

I had prepared well mentally
and got in readily
to face any eventuality
with so much brutality

I again opened my eyes
and found you were trying
to disappear in darkness
leaving me behind with sadness

I lamented his leaving the scene
as I had seen his shaky feet
he greeted me with a smiling face
but internally he stressed to me
