Leaving In The Morning Poem by Rachael Flint

Leaving In The Morning

Shadows stretch,
Faded hues of grey and blue,
Reaching out, barely touching you.
Light rises from the depth of dreams
Distant lands ripped at the seams. Yet
Easy grace you move,
Each step with meaning,
What do you want to prove?
Me, you have convinced already.
Sitting on that bottom step,
Slip small feet into shoes,
A size too big.
And in a rush of coats; bags; hair; perfume;
Amid shouts of bye, you’re gone.
My heart you do consume
Do you know it all?
The space you leave?
How I cry when you fall,
When you laugh I weep?
As if it is all.
