Leaving You Behind Poem by nidhin valsan

Leaving You Behind

in the twilight,
i see the sea
stretching vast like the night
as far as my eyes can see
distance that was never this long.
i see the name i wrote,
on the shore
erased by the tides.

i walk away,
from the bay,
all alone
leaving you behind
against your footprints
the wind whispering in my ears,
tales of years,
when you were in my heart
till we fall apart.

i feel the ground slipping,
and the ripples it created in my life,
falls down from the zenith
as tears from the clouds

i miss the innocence,
the fragrance
of your skin,
with love as thin,
as if no chance to survive,
but how i wish,
to have your shadow on me,
hold you
and have you walk a mile,
with a smile
then i'll do all it takes
to make the time stay still forever
