Leg Brace Lover Poem by Dakota Ellerton

Leg Brace Lover

My mind walks the miles that I'd not dare step,
as the sun peeks through my curtain upon my chest.
If any other simplicity could embrace my tortured emptiness,
I have not found it.
Your lips kiss my flesh so innocently,
at the moment your hands begin to touch through me.
No good-bye could ever be such a beautiful hello -
no forever could long to be without you.
All mistakes have slipped like water through my fingers,
to clash upon my hands as if it were nearly unexpected.
My heart couldn't be any less perfect,
trapped in my emotions,
but I could never stop fighting for my better half.
Again and again and again,
I pray unwilling to a greater divine -
in hopes that the shades will no long craddle me.
Familiarity cruches my broken images,
to a lonely state of mind.
Yet you have always followed me there.
Fear presses through my lungs,
poisoning every breath I breathe.
You and you and you and you and you -
will never know to stop and listen.
As if only here to be here,
and to never take a first step in teaching yourself to walk.
I am the Braces on your legs,
to steady your every pace.

Dakota, This piece is without a boubt, the best thing I have read in a while... It tells it's story, it's pain and frustration... between the lines... and your words convey such emotion hidden within. And the Title unfolds at the end... Perfect. Great ink Dakota. When I read something like this... It pulls me in to read more... Well Done! ; -) -Kelly.
