Leo Poem by Deona Skidmore

Leo

I think that there is something between me and you,
I've fallen into something that we cannot undo,
I can't say that I love you, even though it's true

Our souls are intertwined now,
and I can't pull apart,
you've got a new girl friend,
and I've got a broken heart.

You can feel it too,
you can taste it in your skin,
You're breathing in but,
You want a softer sin

Whoever said that love is fleeting
was selfish cruel and sublime,
you think you want out,
but you're running out of time

I wish you were as happy,
As you seem to be,
But you're not happy,
You're much too blind to see

You're selfish and you're cold
You're abrasive in your dark
You want me to go away,
You want a change of heart

I say this now, as a lover and a friend
You're just a little boy,
You won't let the future in,
So maybe you're growing,
in all that you are

Your friends see a man now,
All I'm seeing is your scars.
