Licking My Baboons
Because, for the French,
a babine is an animal's lip,
(a human's is a lèvre) ,
je lèche les babines,
I lick my lips,
(with a silent ‘s' on ‘babines') ,
makes a lick of the lips like a leer;
and it sort of implies
it's bad manners to lick your lips.
A babouin is a baboon.
What therefore might mean:
je lèche les babouins?
A babine is an animal's lip but baboon means a a large Old World ground-dwelling monkey with a long doglike snout who has large teeth and looks ugly. But beautifully you have narrated these words and this poem has become amazing and beautiful poem...10
