Lies To All Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Lies To All

Rating: 5.0

I have lied to friends' number of times
Sheer lies to parents more often or several times
This was developed from childhood days
When I found that this was simple and easy way

I may simply look bad in people's eye
They may look with scant respect and ask why?
I did not give serious thought to this matter
I wanted to do something different and better

It was simple joy to have convinced others
There was no immediate gain to garner
Yet it developed bad habit and continued
I went on adding new ideas and constantly reviewed

I felt great when someone was easily deceived
I found more elated when saw that it was well received
'Oh God, how fool these people are' I felt proud
It was matter to be personally greeted and proclaimed loud

No one gave me any feed back later or in between
I was going on smoothly and scored easy win
But people were not fool as I understood
I came to know later on that I was most hated person in neighborhood

They observed decency even when it was known
They also knew very well that I must be disowned
Still they let me go on with bad pursuit
With only one satisfaction that I was undesired and totally misfit

Today I have everything but no self respect
They receive me well but avoid reacting
Offer no argument and retire silently
I will then go off from the scene gently

One should resort to lies only in extreme situation
But should not be preferred with its continuation
It makes man totally unreliable and untrustworthy
People reject him any time when he actually needs sympathy
