Life Poem by Jeanne Trew

Life

I wonder if life will ever be the same
When we held one another without refrain
A handshake, a hug, are they things of the past?
Life altered, and it happened so fast.

The World today, a different place.
Can't go out without a mask on my face.
COVID-19 has stolen our minds.
Living life as if we were blind.

No one knows what comes next;
Our interactions relegated only to text.
I miss our hugs, and our Sunday meals.
I'm not even sure exactly how I feel.

A bug none of us can even see,
Has totally altered our reality!
Life is different, that's for sure;
Where isolation is the curse AND the cure.

Looking forward is difficult at best,
But I know we'll overcome this virus we detest.
Life will return, although changed we are;
Loving you deeply, albeit from afar.
