Life Poem by Aaron McIntosh

Life

My sister once asked me, what I think about life

I told her, when she's older I would give her some advice

So five years later she asked me the same thing, so I put my arm around her and put her on to some game

I told her, ''i'm older, and you're my lil' sis, and when I think about you in this cold world, I catch a fit

My heart's grown colder and stiffened up a bit, so lemme give you some advice so you don't end up like this

The first thing you need to know is, watch these guys

'cause if you think they're all down for you, you're in for surprises

And most of them only wanna corrupt your young mind, get sex, steal your innocence and leave you behind

The other thing you need to understand as a standard is most things and people are never what they appear

So don't base your happiness on impermanent things, 'cause those very aspects will eventually disappear

The other thing I want to make very crystal-clear to you is take responsibility, 'cause the world will only mirror you

You get what you deserve, so, be your own authority

Have your own mind, it ensures freedom from the majority

I can talk on and on from now to December, but for now, there's one last tip for you to remember

Life can be beautiful, a puzzle, and a struggle

But it's all up to you and what you wanna choose to juggle

Sometimes it feels painful, like a duty and a hustle

But, if you stay positive, the blues can never touch you''

She said, 'thanks Aaron, you're far from a fool

You have a really big heart, plus you're awesome and cool'

I smiled a big smile, but with a cautious mood, as she kissed me on the forhead, and went off to school
