The Beauty Of True Colors Poem by Aaron McIntosh

The Beauty Of True Colors

I only have eyes for the prize of true colors

No time for suprise, or the lies you do to others

To me, manipulation's the same as dark magic

The victim's spellbound, when it's over, they start to panic

You cause them to see and hear things that aren't real

Like a hallucination, only charming, with more appeal

But when they find out everything they believed was false

Their whole world's upside-down, and they're emotionally lost

The spoken word is a powerful thing to behold

It builds very strong connections to the heart and the soul

But while some use it to teach, love, and uplift

Some people just use it to rob others of their gifts

Wolves in sheeps clothes come in all shapes and sizes

Male, female, black, white, and all guises

So never be fooled by a handsome or pretty face

That demon might scheme to have your virginity erased

Or it can be a woman with the face of angel

With ulterior motives to just use, abuse and play you

The point i'm trying to make is trust's a difficult thing

In this day and age, where so many are living in sin

It's important to really see straight to the heart of the person

Not everybody's what they appear, some are just worse

Some are actually very good at heart, you'd never know

But just trusting the surface is a horrible way to go

So if you seek to build a connection, just give it time

Let them expose themselves, let their true nature unwind

Pay attention to what they say, and their patterns of behavior

Or when people flatter you and then ask you a favor

Look out for things that don't add up and contradictions

If that's the case, it may just be a whole lot of fiction

They think they're such clever schemers that never really show it

But a liar will tell on themself, and never even know it

This isn't to make you live in fear, or paranoid

Just protect your heart, or it'll be shattered and destroyed

But if that person's honest and loyal in the end

Keep them around, they'd make a great lover or a friend

A trustworthy person is a hard thing to find

Someone with a very pure heart, and a clean mind

But if your vision is clear, you'll ultimately discover

That the most beautiful thing in the world are true colors.
