Like A Leaf
Body brittle, veined,
falling free through the darkness.
Tears splash the surface,
As lights flash coloured like sky.
Crowds of no-ones come,
Speaking in such silences,
and leave sympathy.
A young naked log; poisoned.
Sailing. Floating. Sunk.
Men and glass masks rescue him,
but are years too late.
A parent drowned in her grief.
Life destroyed just like a leaf.
In Memory of Daniel Cardwell.
Once a friend, always a memory. Be it in Life, or tragic death.
