Listening To Classical Music Poem by Rajnish Manga

Listening To Classical Music

Rating: 5.0

I'm not a connoisseur of classical music
But I like to listen classical music
May it be Hindustani, Carnatic or Western
I don't understand its fine nuances
But there's something mesmerising in it
That captivates my heart and soul
And I can bathe in its drizzle for hours
And to be transported to another world
If I am asked to define the feeling
I'd say- Sorry, I don't know what it is
(not even the name of all instruments)
To me it looks like meeting my consciousness

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
(I was just watching a video of Beethovan's Symphony No.9 performed by Chicago Symphony Orchestra- under the baton of Riccardo Muti- celebrating its 191st anniversary in 2015 of its first release on May 7,1824. What has struck me the most is the dress code followed by the musicians and the members of audience. With the exception of two ladies sitting at the center of the front row of the audience wearing red, every one else was dressed in black. It enhanced the harmony and the serenity of the occasion)

Beautiful sir. Indeed music has that spell to seal you and export you to bliss ignored.

Love this poem Rajnish ji, Anyone listening to Beethovan's Symphony No 9 would be mesmerised by it sheer beauty of melody.. The dress code observed by the musicians as well as the audience is most disciplined and praiseworthy. i have attended a few concerts during my trips abroad. The music is so fabulous that it carries you both mentally and emotionally into a heavenly sphere. Thanks for reviving my memory of the western musical concerts.......10

Some of the feelings, we cannot always define! I can very well relate to your experience! Though, I don't know much about music, I am escorted to an ethereal plane when I listen to music! But I can't say, I enjoy classical music as much as I enjoy simple melody! Beautifully written!

Ah something common for us... They say there are three stages of musical appreciation: One, when your ear is attracted by the musical sound, two, when you begin to appreciate finer nuances, intellectually, But the last stage is when the first two are no more so important, when your heart is attracted by the depth of music. Nice reading your poem.

I am a great fan of Beethoven's Symphonies, even though I lack technical knowledge of music. The best classical music affects the emotions, even the soul, as you indicate.

You have described what I am sure many people feel - - including myself. I love music of most types. Music soothes the soul. Thank you for posting.
