Listening To My Heart Poem by June FeirCruz

Listening To My Heart

I feel that there are two people inside of me
One who listens to my heart, and one who doesn't.
It is when I don't listen to my heart and what it is dictating
That I lose the great gifts I am given.

There are times when I think: 'You are too good to be true'
And another part of me: 'You are real as they come and I deserve you'.
It is when I doubt, I fear, feel insecure, that I lost touch of what is real.
And what is real is that: You love me as I love you.

Who knows where life would take us: In a day, a week, a month, a year or two?
Would it really matter?
Are we going to be here walking on this earth at all?

We must never allow our fears dictate what we should do
And just love each other as our hearts will us to do.
Because when all is said and done
The only thing that matters at the end of our days
Is the love we have for each other.
It will transcend time and space and it will be forever.
