Lockdown; A Cat's View Poem by Amala Comer

Lockdown; A Cat's View

Rating: 5.0

Now life seems suddenly queer
the humans stay home
and a sense of fear
of the unknown,
of the change,
fills the air.
Lockdown, the new word I hear,
kids are at home
and Mum's on the beer.
My peace is shattered
no more snooze in the chair,
quiet spots all taken,
this doesn't seem fair
to us cats in the dark
of the cause of this stark
change in routine.

For some, this change of course
life has improved.
More cuddles and love
attention to food
bowls that lay empty
now constantly filled.
Water refreshed and pleasantly chilled.
Early to bed, what else to do
cat heaven, more cuddles with you.
So humans do not despair,
life has changes
that teach us to care
for others around us
including us cats,
no point ignoring
two simple facts.
You need to rethink
and stop eating bats.
