Lonely Boy

Now that summer's here
I feel so lonely
Because I've gone from seeing you every day
To not seeing you at all

I regret not spending more time together
Really, it's what we both wanted
But neither knew the other wanted it
But now that time has passed
And I feel lonely.

I miss seeing your face everyday
Because you light up the room whenever you smile
And it made me smile too
It made me happy
But now we're never in the same room
And I feel lonely.

I miss laughing with you
Laughing at something only we would understand -
Because of our special bond -
And laughing again at the weird looks people gave us
But now we're too serious
And I feel lonely.

I hate not talking to you
Because, honestly, it's what I enjoy most in life —
Talking to you, whatever the topic -
But now we're too quiet
And I feel lonely.

I miss being the one there to comfort you
I hated seeing you upset
So I would do whatever it took to make you happy
Because that made me happy
You trusted me with even your most personal problems
And I trusted you with mine
But now some of that trust between us is gone
And I feel lonely.

I hate waking up everyday
Knowing that I will not see you
The thought of seeing you helped me out of bed in the morning
Because all I wanted was to be near you
But now I won't see you
And I feel lonely.

I hate thinking of what might come
If you'll take the worn path
Or become someone you're not
Or if we'll drift apart
You drift away
And leave me lonely.

Poem of the Day

poet Percy Bysshe Shelley

We are as clouds that veil the midnight moon;
How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver,
Streaking the darkness radiantly!--yet soon
