Long Journey Poem by Sebghatullah Arife

Long Journey

One day in a long journey,
Sitting next to man who was quirky,
Him amazing, was speaking freshly and pertly,
With telling everything full of preaches bluntly.

Weird me asked him two questions
About this world, based on oppressions
Oh, preacher! Called I,
My people are getting miserable,
Their rights are trample
And their identity is no longer vital
Why? Why? And why?

The old man took a long breath
And discussed the issue in-depth
Him said, we have a faith
"That after any hardship, there is ease
And a decent freedom is following any seize."

Him added, "Our lord brings believers out of the darkness
Into a perfect brightness."
Odd me asked another odd question,
Why wreckers are in good position,
And can do what they have in their intention?
Answered preacher "never think God heeds
Their all the bad deeds,
He is only granting them respite,
until the day when the eyes will be glazed indeed."

The man Assured me at last,
That such tragedies occurred many times in the past,
Our country is never failed,
To millions, it still is beloved.
Our nation will finally be survived
By the patriotic thoughts, to in the people be revived.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
In this poem, I have wrapped the narration of my memory while on the way to Nangarhar, eastern Afghanistan; a wise man was sitting next to me who had a broad knowledge of Afghan history and the 20 years of war on this territory.
