Lonliness Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

Lonliness

Rating: 5.0

Lonliness
Can strike unexpectedly
At any time
With no reason and no rhyme

Sudden lonliness
Can feel like crushing emptiness
Mixed with desperation
Absolute hollow longing
That sucks away any latent inspiration

Lonliness
Can strike you in a crowded public place
With people all around
It can sneak up on you without warning
Without a sound
A drowning feeling
But you know you've already drowned

Your body is lifeless
Your heart has seemingly lost it's beat
Your dead inside
Lost and incomplete
An overwhelming sense of defeat
Deserately hoping for a meaningful hug
But some hidden force pulled out the rug
From under you

And you have a passing thought of grabbing something
But you're out of strength
Falling
There's nothing you can do
Just loneliness
Felt through and through
You say you care about me
But there's nothing even you can do
When I'm taken over by this blue
That follows me all my days
