Look Down Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Look Down

Look down

Look down
When you are airborne
The world may look so small
People may look like little ants in single row

We were boarded in transport plane
When it was to be tested with load on high hills
We were all put in back area as heavy weight
The plane then was to be taken on height

What happens when we looked down over Simla* hills
The memory hunts still
It was trial in air for airworthiness
We had real gloom on face

Sometimes right engine was stopped
And sometimes left with much to the slow beats of heart
We prayed for successful test
That was journey in military plane and rest was our only feeling

How does India look like? The Prime Minister asked
When first Indian astronaut was over Indian space
It is matter of great interest when someone looks down
You may find yourself in heaven until landed on own ground

Simla… Hill resort
