Lorelei Poem by Ima Ryma

Lorelei

Lorelei loved a sailor who
Betrayed her love and sailed away.
In deep despair of what to do,
She drowned herself in ocean spray.
In death, a siren she became,
And sat upon a rock on high,
Singing songs to ships with her aim
Of causing sailors on to die,
Entrancing them with her sweet song,
The sailors frozen on ship deck,
Maybe the one who did her wrong.
Upon her rock the ships would wreck.

Lorelei never would forgive
One sailor, and so none would live.
