No matter what the dreams may say,
Mortal dreams must pass away,
Lost in sand and lost in snow,
Where all mortal dreams must go.
Mercy, fear, and hope contend
In memories of mortal men -
Wandering the years between
The Wars defining modern times.

You've captured a synergy, here, right from the start that builds line to line and stanza to stanza. Excellent structure and moving message. Fine work, Will.
Will you paint a picture of sadness, yet beauty flows through.--Melvina---
Love the title Will, you are a strong writer, Thankyou for sharing your talent Love duncan X
Yes, it seems the moment one can begin to dream of hope and peace for the world, no sooner are we back at war... the cycle never ends. Great write, Will... brilliantly composed and purposeful! Brian
A beautiful poem Will, truly stunning. True that the dreams and hopes of mankind are buried in sand and snow when we engage in war at times, but all dreams and hopes are noble ones, in an attempt to make the world better, or what we perceive as better! I tried writing to you, but alas, I couldn't send a message yet again. If this gets through I want to tell you, I am relieved that your health has improved, that is wonderful news indeed. As for the weather, we have three temperatures here, cold, freezing and I can't feel my legs anymore. Texas can't compete I'm afraid. Best wishes to you Will :)
Such beauty of language and disciplined economy combined so effectively on a canvas that stretches from the silent anguish of the individual mind to the forces behind the mass movements of history in the making. Yet another weighty piece that reads so lightly and touches so deeply... Reading from your page is always a sobering and yet uplifting experience Will. I sometimes allow myself to think I can write a little .. so I come here.. and I go away inspired in the knowledge that I have so much to learn... though much of it probably can't be learned... You are a very special poet Will Barber.. I hope you're as well as is possible my friend.. Take care.. jim x
Mortal fears fades away too...so many things we are afraid of...Beautiful my friend - just beautiful...You remind us of how fragile we are and that we are here for a very very short time I hope that everything is fine with you-Pia
Very reminiscent of the Victorians with a music of its own. Susie xx.

Sadness recollected in tranquillity. The dreams of today, lost in the mists of tomorrow. Praise for your elegant poem. Your poetess friend, Sandra
