Lost Mother Poem by Indrani Ananda

Lost Mother

Oh, that a bright mind would never die,
Or a fair spirit never fly;
Love cannot keep you here, nor Earth retain,
And Time knows not how to heal a memory's pain.

Oh, that a brave soul could never weep,
Or a dear heart forever sleep;
Prayer cannot hold you here as you move on.....
Nor tell the eternal secret: where you've gone.

Oh, does a spirit form in truth grow old
When it's borne high on wings of gold?
Words cannot lock you here, nor kinship tie;
And Time is the cruel one who let you die.

Oh, when a torn heart will never mend,
Or a dark night not ever end;
Years will not chase you there, nor aeons roll;
And Time cannot bind you here, but free your soul.
