Love is like a perennial flower
Gorgeous Gladiolus!
Letting the world see her different shades
Gentle pink, orange, white combinations,
Love's soft, satin sheaths,
Guarded by tall spiky stems,
Letting the sun touch her curved corolla
Gauzy sun kissed petals,
Love's proud propinquity,
Glad to proclaim love to the open sky!
Gladiolus may not be a prize winning flower, yet
Gladdens the heart with her spontaneous love,
Gregarious Lily family so vivacious,
Gleaming expression of uninhibited love!

Symbolizing strength and moral integrity, gladioli also represent infatuation, with a bouquet conveying to a recipient that they pierce the giver's heart with passion. Striking and colorful with towering stems, August birth flower and 40th wedding anniversary flower......... I had to do some work to really understand this poem but the fatigue ended in joyful thoughts when I understood the deep thoughts of the poetess nicely penned in this lovely poem.
Dear Akhtar Sahab! Your comments always has been a source of joy for me. I, now, know that it is a August birth flower and also 40th wedding anniversary flower. This is a flower which i like to adorn my home with. It comes in array of colours and they remain fresh for a few days. My heartfelt thanks, Sir, for reading this poem. :)
