Love Condemned Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Love Condemned

Love condemned
Thursday,29th April 2021

We were growing in an orthodox family
with the fear of an almighty
each and every move was observed from a religious angle
making us feel bitter and forced struggle

we were childhood friends
and vowed to remain together till an end
we knew it was forbidden
and will never be allowed even

on attaining younghood
he grew beard
I was confined to vail
and every attempt to see him failed

we carried on for sometimes
when our move was noticed as crime
we were summoned before a local judge
he gave his verdict and did not budge from it

he was to be hanged
this made me suffer
with rage and anger
I decided to end life later

if love is forbidden in any society
it has to be condemned outrightly
people should be facilitated and helped
such activities should not be stopped
