I have befriended the clouds
They hovered over my head all day long
Ready to fly away to your land
Once in your name I would drop a song
A handful of grain I placed in courtyard
For the birds to come and stay
To my lonely heart they soothed a lot
When I wept alone in the heat of May
I pleaded the rain to drop down slow
To fill the air with a mellifluous note
Let a runnel run from me to her
Carrying my message in a tiny paper boat
The winter will hear me for sure
It can feel my love for her; pure and deep
It won’t come hard on me on the way
When from leaves the snow begins to drip
The time would cease to move
Essence of our love would remain forever young
Those who say things are born to die
Would feel guilty when they will be proved wrong
